Begin with a detail you recognise
Look at the guide picture first. A face, a patch of sky or a familiar object can make a piece easier to place than its outline alone. Name the detail without pointing to the answer, then leave time for the child to try.
Larger puzzles come later
The puzzle sizes are four, six, nine and twelve pieces. Difficulty can rise after several successes and become easier after too many mistakes. This is not an age test: a child can enjoy the four-piece version more than once.
